The Bronte sisters published their work using pen names to protect their privacy. The chose names with the same first initial as their own names and they used part of the surname of Arther Bell-Nichols, thier farther’s curate and the man that Charlotte later married. Emily chose Ellis Bell, Charlotte became Currer Bell and Anne selected Acton Bell.
