Where ‘Gone To The Heather’ came from and who we are…

Welcome to Gone To The Heather, inspired by Emily Bronte’s habit of disappearing off to the moors, to lie in the heather when the duties and trials of life got too much. Like Emily I sometimes find the need to escape my daily life, so this website is my digital version of that escape and in the interests of improving my (and hopefully your) emotional and mental wellbeing I am sharing it with you.

I’m Sarah, Yorkshire born and bred and I feel very lucky to still live here in ‘God’s own county’. I’ve enjoyed and endured many of life’s ups and downs and all the weather that Yorkshire can throw at you – Three seasons in a day and 14 months of rain a year anyone? I feel that I’d like to express, share and explore some of my finds, treasures, dreams, ambitions, experiences, ideas, thoughts and feelings.

The lives and works of the Bronte Sisters & Jane Austen facinate me, so they are the basis of many of the thoughts and ideas here. Japanese art, culture, crafts and travel are also areas that I’m constantly exploring – one day I will get there (ambition is a fine thing). Creating is vital to my wellbeing, so I have combined this with my intrest in Eco-living (if we all do a little bit we can make a massive improvement) to create a collection of Eco Jewellery and homewares made from recycled and reclaimed materials. I also have the privilege of being the partner sometimes assistant / muse of the artist johnnyinthe56, so much of his artwork can also be found here too. It is a unique and ecclectic mix of things but feel free to rummage & explore and I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks
